It is amazing that any organization lasts more than 50 years. The Illusion Theater was founded in 1974 and has had consistent artistic leadership since the beginning. Those leaders are Michael Robins and Bonnie Morris, who will discuss how they have transformed lives through theater; how they have thrived for 50 years and plans for the future. Joining Bonnie and Michael is T Mychael Rambo, a creative collaborator, actor, and singer with the Illusion for over 38 years.
They will share Illusion’s groundbreaking work using theater to address issues that were essential to the lives of youth - from the country’s first primary prevention program to stop child sexual abuse to the current work addressing issues confronting 8th/9th grade youth (e.g., bullying/social violence, peer pressure, decision making, substance abuse and mental health).
They will highlight their pioneering work supporting, developing and producing playwrights from the Twin Cities favorite, Jeff Hatcher to internationally renowned multi-media artist, Ping Chong, to the work of Isabel Nelson, founder of Transatlantic Love Affair. T Mychael Rambo will share his experience with the Illusion as an artist---and maybe even sing for us!
