About this event
Ever wondered what actually happens inside the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis? Is it a bank? A vault? This engaging 75-minute walking tour will answer your questions.
Join us to learn how the Minneapolis Fed works on behalf of everyday Americans. You’ll see how U.S. currency makes its way from the Fed to your local bank, gain a clearer understanding of how interest rates are influenced, and get a behind-the-scenes look at one of the most important institutions in the country.
The tour also includes time to explore a special exhibition on Alexander Hamilton and America’s first central bank. As the nation’s first Secretary of the Treasury, Hamilton championed the creation of the Bank of the United States, laying the groundwork for today’s Federal Reserve System. Along the way, you’ll see historic currency featuring Hamilton’s portrait: proof that he’s far more than just the ten-dollar founding father.
This tour is limited to 15 participants. Registration closes Friday, February 13, at 12:00 pm.
Notes for the tour: All visitors must present a valid photo ID, pass through a metal detector, and have all personal belongings x-rayed. Tours begin promptly; late arrivals will not be admitted. Please arrive ten minutes prior to the tour start time.
