About this event
Think You're Red Cross Ready? Test yourself: can you agree with these statements?
- I know what emergencies or disasters are most likely to occur in my community.
- I have a disaster plan and have practiced it.
- I have a survival kit.
- At least one member of my household is trained in first aid and CPR/AED.
- I have taken action to help my community prepare.
In the Twin Cities area, we are at risk of extreme temperatures, severe storms, and home fires. Although disasters affect everyone, older adults can be at greater risk due to disabilities, isolation, and disruptions in health care.
Join us to learn how to protect yourself, your loved ones, your furry friends, and your home. Though high-rise apartment buildings and condos are more likely to have sprinklers and fire alarms, it's still critical to have a fire escape plan and working smoke alarms in your unit. The Red Cross will offer practical advice on getting informed, making a plan, assembling a kit, and keeping your plans up to date.
